一曲だけコーラスとして参加させて頂きましたが、その一曲がアルバムのタイトルソングになりました〜！！

彼もまたヤバ過ぎて超〜〜感激しました。
才能もハートもビューティフル！！！
ＬＯＶＥ溢れる、ハートフルなレコーディングに参加できて本当に幸せでした。
勉強させて頂きながら、もの凄く楽しませて頂いちゃいました！最高のお仕事でした♪（うふふ〜#^-^#）

My girl SHANTI, a beautiful singer-songwriter in Japan is coming out with her 3rd Album (from Columbia Records) on Feb. 22! I was lucky to be asked to sing backgrounds for her song “Lotus Flower” which ended up being the title of the album.

It’s a wonderfully uplifting song with a lot of energy & groove. She sounds amazing & so does the band! It was also a highlight & great pleasure to get to know & work with Ty Stephens, an incredible singer from New York. We had so much fun laying down the harmonies together! (He was out here touring as a background singer for one of my favorite Japanese soul singers, Toshinobu Kubota)

The pic above is of SHANTI, her music director & guitarist Hank Nishiyama, Ty & I. They are all such creative loving people that I was just overwhelmed with happiness in the studio…☆ I hope you get a chance to hear “LOTUS FLOWER” — the song & entire album — I think it’s just what we need to get over the final hump of Winter & into the next chapter of 2012 … Spring! ;)

The full version of “Grow Your Beauty,” the new commercial song Maya sang for LUX Super Rich Shampoo has been selected as a song to be included in “Jazz Now 2012” — a compilation album EMI Music Japan is releasing on December 21, 2011!!! Look out for the artist lineup — you will not be disappointed!! ☆

来年4月から使われる中学2年の英語教科書「ONE WORLD English Course 1〜3」に収録される
『Elm Tree Dreams』と言う曲の録音に参加させて頂きました。

歌は私、宮本貴奈さん(p)のアトランタトリオが伴奏。作曲は神山純一さん、そして作詞は浦島久さん。

「〜夢を追いかけて〜」というテーマ曲で自分が日本で過ごした中学生の頃を思い出し、
今夢を追いかけている自分が中学生の子ども達のためにそんな曲を歌えて本当に嬉しかった。
とてもスペシャルなレコーディングに参加させて頂き、ありがとうございました！！！(m_ _m)（涙）

I recorded vocals for “Elm Tree Dreams,” a song which will be included in the English textbook “ONE WORLD English Course 1〜3″ and used by junior high school students in Japan as of April 2012. The song is about pursuing our dreams and making an effort to fulfill them. Since I spent my middle school years living in Japan, this project was particularly special for me. I felt a real connection to the lyrics and hope that the students who hear & sing this song are inspired to make all their dreams come true.

大震災をきっかけに気づいたこと、そして決めたことを曲にしました。

だから今日という日がある限り、自分と宇宙を強く信じて強く生きるべきなんだ。〜

このアルバムはいろんな意味で本当に素晴らしいです！！
全曲バラエティーがあって、ジャンルの区別ができないぐらいフュージョンしてます。
どの曲も意味深いストーリーが描かれていてとてもスピリチュアルでありながら超カッコ良い！！！本当に素敵な作品です。
サトシさんのプレイももちろんのことだけど彼の作曲の力と才能がめちゃめちゃ証明されてます。

I am honored to be featured on 2 tracks — “Meant To Be” and “Lost and Found” — both songs are original compositions that Satoshi & I wrote together.

I feel so blessed to be a part of this album. Not only are Satoshi and the rest of the musicians all phenomenal players who are respectively killin in their own right, but the entire album is so versatile and spiritual. It’s completely impossible to categorize its genre because it’s influenced by so many. Genre-less — that’s my favorite genre ;) I hope you guys enjoy this album just as much as I do!

** The song “Meant to Be” which ended up becoming the title of the album was inspired by the huge earthquake that we recently experienced here in Japan. Satoshi & I wanted to write a song that gave hope & courage to our fellow Japanese citizens who were living in a state of sorrow, trauma, doubt and fear. Although my home was not destroyed & I was fortunate enough not to lose a loved one, I too was afraid of the radiation, of all the aftershocks, my health and whether I was going to survive. But after worrying myself sick, I finally realized, “What is the point of all this negative thinking? It doesn’t benefit anyone. I can’t change what’s happened and can’t stop what may come. Whatever is meant to be will be, so I must let it be. There’s a reason I’m alive. It’s because I’m meant to be. And that truth is what I’m meant to believe. Those who believe in the positive forces of the Universe are definitely protected.”
